A lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus), also commonly known as the butter bean, sieva bean, double bean or Madagascar bean is a legume grown for its edible seeds or beans.
Originally domesticated in South America. Brought to Europe by Spanish explorers, they were found throughout South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Lima beans are flat in shape and the largest of the white beans family. They have a slightly floury texture and a sweet flavour.
